Recently, the T2 main transformer of kaliti-1 substation in Ethiopia was officially put into live operation. Since then, the power transmission of the substation has been officially started, marking a new stage in the implementation of Ethiopia aatdrup-3b power transmission and transformation project undertaken by Hydropower Bureau 1.
In February 2020, Sinohydro Bureau 1 began to implement Ethiopia aatdrup-3b power transmission and transformation project, which is responsible for upgrading three substations around the capital Addis Ababa: kaliti-1, huoluta and iraragda. Kaliti-1 substation is located in the south of Addis Ababa, covering a total area of more than 50000 square meters. It is composed of six main transformers. As a "switching station", the substation plays an important role in the capital region.
With the continuous acceleration of urban construction in the capital Addis Ababa and the sharp rise of urban power load, kaliti-1 substation has been difficult to meet the current power demand. In the process of upgrading, a bay was expanded in kaliti-1 substation, a new control room was built, the original two old main transformers were replaced, and the capacitance was greatly improved.
During the implementation of the AATDRUP-3B transmission and transformation project in Ethiopia, the project department is facing the dual pressure of COVID-19 and political turmoil. Under the premise of firmly keeping the bottom line of the epidemic prevention and control and formulating a comprehensive safety contingency plan, the project department insists on the plan unchanged and the construction period is not reduced, so as to promote the construction of the project in an orderly way with excellent performance capability. On June 11 this year, huoluta substation successfully transmitted power 23 days ahead of the original plan, and kaliti-1 substation was also able to transmit power on schedule.
After the aatdrup-3b power transmission and transformation project in Ethiopia is upgraded and put into operation, it will greatly improve the power grid structure of Ethiopia and effectively solve the shortage of power supply in the capital region.
